Named for the Greek Goddess of the night, the Nyx 101 mount from Pegasus Astro is a high-performing, high payload mount that is perfect for astrophotographers. It can even be used for visual observations with both alt-azimuth and equatorial modes. Made from a fully CNC machined aluminum alloy 6061 and black and blue anodized, this aesthetically pleasing mount uses a selection of branded parts (stepper motors, strain wave gear) to ensure flawless performance for many years to come!

This mount has an incredibly lightweight design, especially compared to the impressive payload capacity. Weighing in at only 6.4kg (14.1 lb.), this mount can support equipment up to 44 lb. (20 kg) without counterweights, though there is optional counterweight support through the included M12 threaded shaft hole at the end of the DEC axis. The Pegasus Astro NYX-101 mount comes with a PoleMaster adapter on the front of the mount so you can pair a user-supplied QHY PoleMaster for precise polar alignment. Additionally, there is a set of sensors that allow you to orient your mount at the correct altitude and azimuth for an initial rough polar alignment. It also comes with an ST-4 port at the back of the mount, making it compatible with a simple hand controller or an ST-4 guiding camera (hand controller and ST-4 guiding camera not included). High Precision Strain Wave Gears
The Nyx 101 mount uses harmonic gears on both axes, so the strain wave drive on the RA and DEC movements provides a backlash-free operation with high torque when carrying high payloads. The hybrid combination of the stepper motor and belt system and the mount's sophisticated electronics can drive the RA axis down to 0.10 arcsecs of resolution. The reduction on the RA axis is 500:1 and the Dec axis is 300:1.

44 lb. (20 kg) Capacity without Counterweights!
This Pegasus Astro mount can support high imaging loads. The Nyx 101 mount can support up to 44 lb. (20kg) without counterweights, though you can add counterweights, if desired, to increase the payload up to 30kg (66 lb.). A user-supplied counterweight and counterweight shaft must be compatible with the M12 counterweight shaft hole found at the end of the DEC axis.

Refractive Correction
Pegasus Astro has designed the NYX-101 mount to use a barometric and temperature sensor to calculate atmospheric, refraction corrections during mount tracking. For smaller focal length telescopes, this might be too much, but it will be a welcome and noticeable change in the guiding performance of your SCT.

Safety Power-Off Break and Safety Limit Encoders
The safety power-off brake provides an instant safe stop during both planned and unplanned power interruptions. Included on the RA axis is an electronic brake that prevents back sliding when the power is off and also provides a safety limit stop during times of tracking or slewing. The safety limit encoders on the RA axis prevent internal cable snags or collisions with the tripod.

The NYX-101 supports both wireless (WiFi) and USB2.0 connectivity right out of the box! You can even use these two technologies simultaneously! Dual Saddle Compatibility
Included on the body of the NYX-101 mount is a low profile and rigid universal saddle plate that will accept both Vixen and Losmandy 3" dovetail plates. Between this dual saddle design and the dual alt-az/Eq modes, this is on versatile mount!

NYX-101 Power Specifications
The NYX-101 mount requires only a 12V battery for smooth operation. It consumes less than 0.6Amp during tracking and up to 2.5Amps during slewing. This means you can use your normal 12V battery without any additional converters. The mount's power cable is a GX12 type that can securely attach to the USB type B special socket. This socket is on the non-movable part of the mount so there are no cables moving during slews and tracking, The second GX12 socket allows you to provide power to any imaging equipment you would like to add to your setup.
